Marble Falls Triathlon. July 20, 2008

John summed up this event the best.  We had 11 team members competing in Marble Falls.

Ragland's Write-up:
As I ponder the days events, I wonder. Yep that's about it. I wonder. Way to tired and full to do much more.

Pre-Race story time. It was a normal morning. Drag nothing cool to write there. Oh, Kemper did score on Tom. So Tom, what do you not ask someone in a full tri suit when Kemper is next to you. Are you doing a tri? Duh, the person is in a full tri suit. Didn't know Kemper had a little dark side. I like it! Then we have the Aggie. How many Aggies does it take to lose a pair of goggles? One, all he has to is jump in the water. Yep, Steve our Aggie, jumped in pre-race and lost his goggles. Remember the movie"Something about Mary?" Poor Steve looked so sad walking around saying. "Have you seen my baseball oh i mean goggles."
Well the race started off as planned. A few of the team complained about getting their daily dose of Carbon from the multiple Jet skies on the course. While they swam, the brave John waited. Yep just sat around and waited. More to that later. Oh wait, it's time. John started with the bike due to his horrific Mountain Bike crash that a meer mortal would have probably not survived. Well Stephie would. With her No Pain No Game attitude. Steph swam, biked and ran through the pain of having new stitches on the bottom of her foot. Oh, thanks for asking; How do you get stitches on the bottom of your foot. Well after a night on the town, Jazz Festival, she opened the back of her truck and champagne bottles fell out. Again you ask, "How do you get stitches on the bottom of your foot." Well I take it after finishing a bottle or two she thought it would be a good idea to crush the larger pieces down to size with the bottom of her foot. About the only thing I can think of. After all, it was the bottom of her foot. Hanging around the Aggie to much.
On to the bike. John was going to give Will someone to chase down so he left with the first round of bikers to leave the corral. However, in hind site he should have left when will started swimming. Will overtook john about three minutes into the ride. I truly bite! Then came Tom a few seconds later. Heck Will had chain problems and I didn't even catch him.OH WAIT! I forgot a swimming penalty. Alicia was sent to the penalty box for throwing a high elbow into Tracy's eye. I like it. Hockey swimming. Even if it's your own team. Nice! Well now that we're talking about our long lost friend Tracy. I heard a big scream on the ride. It was Tracy when her seat post fell down. Lucky it wasn't a guy!. Ouch! The bike course was hard but man we hit some fast speeds. My first time to hit 40! Err still only 19.1mph average. Again I bite.
Run time. Hot!!! and boring!! But others liked it. Saw Tom run in so he must have past our South African friend. Plenty of Gatorade and water on the course. We went this way and that through a neighborhood. Again, nothing to grand to talk about. Always fun to see everyone face going out when your coming in. Always think at that time, It could be worse I could be them. :) I would never say that out loud. The big event for the run was Tiffany BRAGGING about how she beat the other you 30yr old by sticking her head out. Of course I had to remind our blond friend that your chip is on your ankle not your neck. And yes it turned out she was one tenth of a second behind. So we all clapped real loud to make her smile when she got third not second.
After the race we had a nice lunch and desert. Yummy pie. Wow we're home already. Ok, more to come if I remember anything.
