It was like a SportsLife reunion. Great to see members again who have been absent since the Rookie + the faithful crowd and some new folks. As a club member, you were not alone. Check out the pictures.
There is no mistaking what club dominated HOT #5. The SportsLife team of nine athletes collected 3 first, 2 second, 3 third and 1 fourth place. No extra laps on the bike this time, although Dale ended up riding extra after making a wrong turn out of the transition. He still came in third in his age group.
Claudia and Yoli competed in Corpus. So did Claudia's daugther. Not only did she finish her first triathlon, she came in 6th out of 19 girls in her group. Congratulations!
Nice morning in Boerne although the temperatures rose quickly. Competitive field and the SportsLife team was right in the thick of things.
The thing that I always remember about this race is the parking. Namely the LONG walk from where you park to where the race is held, easily a half mile walk. Everyone gets to the race site when it is still pitch black. Setting up transition in the dark is not as much fun as it sounds.
Our faithful group was back for HOT #4. Despite Tina and Jerry riding an extra lap on the bike course (watch out Jennifer!), our crew placed 2nd 3rd, and 4th in their respective age groups. I understand it was confusing out there. We will have to recruit a volunteer to keep track of our laps for HOT #5.
John summed up this event the best. We had 11 team members competing in Marble Falls.
Ragland's Write-up:
As I ponder the days events, I wonder. Yep that's about it. I wonder. Way to tired and full to do much more.
Two of our women competed in the individual division at the couples triathlon? What is up with that? They finished fourth and fifth in the women's open division.
Following the tradition of strong finishes at the HOT Series, check out these results:
The 1/2 IM in Lubbock is known for conditions similar to what you may experience in Kona. This year, rain, wind and wet conditions replaced the usual sun and heat. It made it difficult on the bike ride (Tiffany has road rash to show for it) but cooler temperatures on the run was welcomed. Alicia finished her fastest and Steven his first 1/2 IM ever. Two of our Soul Ride friends, Tony and Rick, also finished their first 1/2IM. For Rick, this was his first triathlon. Way to go!
